Anna’s Oak Commemorative Exhibition
to benefit French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust
In 2024, the fall of Anna’s Oak—a majestic 235-year-old white oak in the Thomas P. Bentley Nature Preserve, stewarded by the French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust—marked the passing of a living landmark. In response, local artists were invited to honor the enduring spirit of this beloved tree through a special call for entries.
The resulting exhibition gathers more than twenty works in painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, each a unique reflection of the tree. From hand-turned wooden vases and bowls to clay vessels pressed with leaves, from copper-cast jewelry and carved walking sticks to paintings, cyanotypes, and photographs drawing out the intricate textures of bark and fallen leaves—these creations serve as keepsakes of memory and transformation.
Together, they form a living tribute to Anna’s Oak, offering space for reflection on cycles of growth, loss, and renewal, while celebrating the enduring bond between nature and creativity. Proceeds from artwork sales will benefit the French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust, with select works offered exclusively through the French & Pickering Annual Auction.
