September 19th from 10:00 am - 4 pm
Travel back in time and celebrate the founding of our country. Warwick Furnace is a historically significant site producing cannon for the Revolutionary War. One of its clerks, George Taylor, later became a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Washington’s army camped here on September 17–18, 1777, and a letter from Alexander Hamilton to John Hancock was written from Warwick Furnace.
To commemorate the Semiquincentennial, Warwick Township is organizing a festival on September 19, from 10 am – 4 pm, taking place throughout the valley along Warwick Furnace Road — including the French & Pickering Thomas P. Bentley Preserve, the Warwick Furnace Ruins, Warwick Furnace Farm, and Hockley Mill.
The program will include an encampment reenactment, an archaeological dig, historic vendors and food trucks, lectures throughout the day, and a historically themed exhibition in the gallery of the dairy barn. With many surprises in store!
This event is still in the planning stages so mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information. If you are a reenactor, local vendor or artisan with a colonial aesthetic, or interested in volunteering during the festival please reach out to claire via the farm’s contact page.
